Job description The Next Generation Systems Research department at the IBM T J Watson Research Center, Yorktown Heights, NY is seeking post-doctoral candidates to join a multi-disciplinary research group focusing on Natural Language Interface to Databases. The research work will involve algorithms and systems to take natural language input and automatically create queries to various databases and data repositories with the ultimate goal of building a domain independent fully automated system. The candidate should have a doctoral degree in computer science, in such disciplines as natural language processing, computational linguistics, information retrieval or machine learning. Candidate must demonstrate a proven publication record and the ability to carry out world-class research. In addition to being technically abreast of the literature and progress within the specific and related areas of expertise, to generate highly novel ideas and be involved in their execution and implementation. The researcher should also have programming and system development skills and should be able to deploy software individually and as part of an extended team. Communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team are also critical qualities sought after.
